Eritrea

There is no other African country with as many refugees as Eritrea. They flee lifelong military service, persecution, famines and violence. In particular, the civil war in Sudan and the war between Ethiopia and Eritrea have led to the most difficult conditions. Even though compulsory education still exists, only 39% to 57% of Eritrean children go to primary school.

Since 2006 CHILDREN FOR TOMORROW has been helping in the slums of Asmara in cooperation with the Ministry of Education. We opended a nursery school which provides psychiatric treatment for traumatized children, further education for teachers and families as well as psychoeducative programs. An average of 400 children participate in this project every year.
