A teacher’s typical story
There are more and more children who are acting out or withdrawn. Their minds have been damaged and their school is unable to sufficiently cope. This is especially the case at schools located in challenging social situations with a high proportion of children who come from families with a refugee background.
As a school, one often feels helpless and overwhelmed by the emotional distress of the children, which manifests itself in different ways, but usually emphatically. That is why the HoneyHeroes! service is a real gift: diagnostics and – where necessary – psychotherapy in a one-to-one setting, the opportunity to talk to therapists, who sit in on the classes and offer advice, plus training and supervision for the teachers – and all of this on your own premises – it doesn’t get any better than that!
For a number of years, we have often tried in vain to persuade parents to take their child to a therapy practice for diagnostic assessment. For many of these families the hurdles were simply too high: having to make contact by phone or in writing, coupled with long waiting lists and times. Even if a diagnosis was made, the necessary therapy place was often not available. And if it was, the children only continued attending the appointments in exceptional cases. Thanks to the HoneyHeroes! concept, all of this can now take place in familiar surroundings on the school site without having to travel very far. The mere availability of this option strengthens colleagues in what they are doing. Knowing that I can provide help and advice directly or seek it myself is invaluable. The opportunity to train alongside other colleagues on the subject of traumatisation fulfils a long-held desire to acquire my own qualitative expertise in theory and practice.
On a day-to-day basis, we particularly appreciate the direct and uncomplicated interaction with the HoneyHeroes! therapists and sense the credo that seems to be the driving force behind their actions: ‘We want to make your everyday lives easier!’
You certainly do that! Thank you!
